I'm really starting to like these succulents

Een paar jaar geleden zou ik gedacht hebben 'Rotsplantjes???! nou ja!' en dan kom je ze ineens steeds vaker tegen. Bij decoraties van bruiloften, op Pinterest en onlangs bij iemand op Instagram. En het werkt gewoon echt zo, hoe vaker je iets ziet hoe leuker je het gaat vinden. Dus ik ben bijna om voor de succulent plants, zeker als zo'n klein mini rotsen tuintje als op de eerste foto.

A few years ago I would have thought 'a little rock garden?!?! whatever!'. But then you see those funny little plants pop up at wedding photos, on Pinterest and recently in someones feed on Instagram. And it really does work that the more you see it the more you grow to like it. So I'm very close to becoming a succulent plant fan. Specially in a little rock garden setting like in the first image.

This just took my breath away

Ik hou van design (maar niet in de zin van dat mijn huis ermee vol staat). Ik hou van licht (maar verduister graag een kamer als er geslapen moet worden). Ik hou van kleur (niet als basis maar als accent). En ik hou van 'anders' (niet gezocht maar spontaan ontstaan). Dit huis ben ik via Pinterest tegen gekomen en toen ik de site van Ruy Teixeira bezocht en de aanvullende foto's zag kon ik bijna niet meer ademen. By far het mooiste wat ik ooit gezien heb. Waarom? Omdat het alle elementen in zich heeft waar ik zo ontzettend van hou.
I love design (but not in the sence that my home is overflown with it). I love light (but also like to darken a room when we take a nap). I love color (not as a basis for an interior but as an accent). And I love 'quirky' (not arranged but as a spontanious result of something). This home I first spotted on Pinterest and when I followed the link to the Ruy Teixeira site the additional photos just took my breath away. By far the most beautiful home I've ever seen. Why? Because it has all of the above.

I'm thinking.... compromise

Tis altijd een beetje schipperen in een interieur. Je vindt iets mooi, komt enthousiast thuis en je partner zegt 'hmmm' en niet meer dan dat! Ik heb dus voor mezelf al besloten dat de dag dat mijn lief thuis komt en zegt 'schat, ik wil een bar in huis' dan zeg ik 'hmmm, [korte onderbreking van stilte] ok! maar dan mag ik em inrichten'. Rampampam... en dan komen deze prachtige Muuto stoelen zo via de voordeur naar binnen. Moet eerlijk bekennen dat ik ook al eens gezegd heb dat hij best een drumstel in een kelder mag en dat hij daar een gratis spiegelwand bij krijgt. Ik snap gewoon dat je soms het kind in jezelf moet koesteren.
Decorating a house together is always a matter of compromises. You like something, you come home filled with enthousiasm and your partner only responds with a 'hmmm'. I've made up my mind that if ever my Mr Lover comes home with the idea of wanting a bar in our home my response will be 'hmmm, [sort pause of silence] ok! But I get to decorate it!' And shazaaaam! That's when these beautiful Muuto barstools will find a special place into our home. Must admit that I've also once promised him that if we ever have a basement in a home that he can have drums there and I'll throw in a mirrored wall so that he can see himself play the drums. What can I say... I understand cherishing the kid in yourself.

The blog Weekdaycarnival is a never ending source of inspiration. Like the geometric wall. Such a precise work and what subtle colors used. A nice statement in your interior. If you don't have a steady hand needed to create this wall or the time available you can always get this look by getting some of the products by this blogger. My mothersday gift

Eindelijk heb ik een winkeltje gevonden in Singapore die het Australische woonblad RealLiving verkoopt (mam kan je geloven dat het inderdaad dat winkeltje om de hoek was in Holland Village). Dus nu weet ik wat ik ga uitzoeken voor moederdag. Net als vorig jaar heb ik een bedrag gekregen waarvoor ik mezelf met iets moois mag verwennen. De komende maanden kan ik dan zeker dit blad blijven kopen. Kijk er naar uit om me te laten inspireren met veel moois uit Australie. En zoals je aan de cover kunt zien laten zij zich ook prima inspireren vanuit de Scandinavische woonstijl en het design.
Finally I've found a shop that sells the RealLiving magazine (mom can you believe it was that one around the corner in Holland Village). So here is my treat yourself mothersday gift. I got a gift voucher saying I can look for something I like. And now I'll be able to get this magazine for many months to come. Looking forward to some Australian inspirations. As you can see by the cover they flirt with the Scandinavian thought of decorating and design a lot.

A dose of Friday eye candy

Soms heb je net even wat minder inspiratie om te bloggen. Je wilt niet 'gewoon' maar iets plaatsen om de dag weer op te vullen. Nee, ik verwen jullie liever met fijne beelden. Daarom ben ik ook blij dat ik gewacht heb tot dit moment. Zojuist heb ik styliste Rachel Vigor gevonden en zij heeft in de fijnste huizen mogen werken. Mooie kleuren, grappige details en unieke producten strelen deze vrijdag het oog.

Op het LilleLykke Kids blog zie je vandaag wat images uit een boek waar ze aan gewerkt heeft 'The ultimate kids' birthday party boek'. Dat beloofd wat! 

Sometimes I lack the inspiration to post a blog. I don't want to just fill up the day by posting anything. No I much rather spoil you with beautiful images. That's why I'm happy that I've waited until this moment. I've just discovered the site of Rachel Vigor and she's been able to work in some amazing homes. Beautiful colors, quirky details and unique products are our dose of Friday eye candy.

Zo herkenbaar dat gevoel van Christine van House of C. Is de passie nog groots genoeg aanwezig om door te zetten met de webwinkel. Soms moet je concluderen NEE. Niet omdat het niet goed loopt of je niet voldoende aandacht in de media hebt. Gewoon omdat het toch niet zo bij je past.

Keramiek met een vleugje humor

Zoals je vast wel weet ben ik dol op een dosis humor in je interieur. Je kunt je de glimlach op mijn gezicht dan ook wel voorstellen toen ik deze druipende kandelaars online tegen kwam. Maar het is niet uitsluitend kandelaars bij Singe Schjøth, ook mooie doosjes, haken en decoraties voor in huis.
As you are all well aware of I love a bit of humor in your interior. So you can imagine these candleholders are right up my alley. But its not just candleholders for Signe Schjøth, also nice boxes, hooks and decorations for your interior.

Presenteer je producten eens op kleur

Hoe leuk is deze op kleur styling van de in Oslo gevestigde boetiek NEST! Ben zelf nog niet in Olso geweest maar als ik ga komt deze zeker op mijn shortlist van adresjes om te bezoeken. En tot die tijd vermaak ik mezelf met de fijne foto's van de winkel op het blog van NEST.
How cute is this color styling of products by the shop NEST. You can find it in Oslo. I haven't been to that city yet but if I do this shop will definately go on my shortlist of shops to visit. Until that time comes I will entertain myself with the lovely shop images on the NEST blog.

Geduld... niet MIJN sterkste punt.

Dit zou een vast beeld moeten zijn als ik eens gebrek aan inspiratie heb (ja, dat komt wel eens voor). Erg grappig. Moest er hard om lachen. Gespot op Society6.

Let start doing something with our pins on PINTEREST

 

Zoals velen van jullie weten ben ik een fan van Pinterest. Ik post de laatste tijd wat selectiever omdat ik na het verzamelen van meer dan 3700 pins niet meer zo goed wist wat ik aan het pinnen was. Nu heb ik het voornemen om minimaal iedere maand iets uit mijn pinboard 'creative inspirations' en 'food inspirations' te maken. Bovenstaande stof met borduur accent heb ik gepind vanuit het SweetPaul magazine. En laten we nou nog een extra set dekbedden nodig hebben. Bij IKEA kwam ik onlangs de Emmie Land dekbedden met vergelijkbare print tegen. Dus hopelijk na wat avondjes borduren op de bank zal ik mijn eigen versie van mijn gepinde inspiratie hebben.

As many of you know I am a huge Pinterest fan. Only lately I don't pin as much as I used to. After posting over 3700 pins I started to wonder what I was going to do with all that collected inspiration. Now I've got the intention to make or create one pin a month from my 'creative inspirations' pinboard and one from my 'food inspirations' pinboard. The one you see above with the embroidered linnen is a pin from the SweetPaul magazine. And what do you know... we need an extra set bedsheets. Recently I saw this Emmie Land pattern at IKEA. So hopefully after a few nights of embroidery on the sofa I will have created my own version of this pinned inspiration.

Hoptimist in koper

Ik ben iemand die zonder problemen trends aan zich voorbij laat gaan. Zo ook de koper hype. Zeker het is een prachtige warme kleur en er zijn veel prachtige koperen producten te vinden. Maar ik loop er niet heel warm voor. En als ik dan al zou zwichten dan zou het zijn voor zo'n leuke Hoptimist. Ok, of de limited edition By Lassen maar dat is dan alleen omdat ik de warme kleur prefereer ten opzichte van zwart.
I'm the type of person that doesn't go by trend. I like what I like with or without trend. Currently we have the copper trend. Of course it's a beautiful warm color and you can find many amazing products in copper. However I'm not over excited about it. And if I would change my mind it would most likely be for one of these Hoptimist figures. Ok, and maybe the limited edition By Lassen candleholder just because I prefer a warm color over black.

Wishing for a wishbone chair

Liefde voor de Wishbone Chair van Hans Wegner voelde ik al een tijdje maar in deze kleurcombinaties wordt het houden van. Wat een prachtige serie zo bij elkaar. Zal nog wel even 'wishing for a wishbone chair' blijven maar als het ooit zover komt dan zal het in deze kleuren zijn.
The love for the Wishbone Chair by Hans Wegner has been there for quite some time but in these color combinations the affection grows much deeper. I love this series. I'm sure it will remain 'wishing upon a wishbone chair' for a little while longer. But when the time comes these will be the colours.

Invloeden van Australische woonstijl

Sorry maar nu ik hier woon (in de warmte van Singapore) zal ik naast het Scandinavische ook iets verder kijken op interieur gebied. Gelukkig kan ik ook heel veel inspiratie vinden in de Australische woonstijl omdat deze inhaakt op het Scandinavische. Veel licht, neutrale basis en fijne accessoires met kleur. Zo ook bij dit huis in Bondi, een cottage in een wijk van Sydney.
I'm sorry but as I'm living in a warm climate now (Singapore) I will be looking further than just the Scandinavian interior style. Luckely I can also find a lot of inspiration in the Australian style since it really resembles the Scandinavian one. Lots of light, a neutral basis and fun accessories with color. Like you see in this home. A cottage in Bondi, a suburb of Sydney.

Screen printing with Rachel Castle

Oh kon ik maar in het scherm duiken om bij zo'n geweldige screen printing les van Rachel Castle te zijn. Ze doet deze voor het Australische The School. Als je vaker op mijn blog bent geweest dan weet je dat ik een groot fan van haar werk ben. Strakke lijnen, heldere kleuren en fijne vormen. Sorry dat er nu alweer een Australische inspiratie post is. Maar je weet hoe dat soms gaat als je online bezig bent. Als je een pad van inspiratie volgt en doorklikt vind je het ene na het andere waar je hart sneller van gaat kloppen.
I love these images from the screen printing courses done by Rachel Castle for The School. If you read my blog on a regular basis you know I'm a huge fan of her work. So crisp and clean and full of color. Sorry that I have taken a turn to the Australian inspirations. But you know how it works online. If you follow a direction you keep finding great things. I'm sure there will be some Scandinavian additions real soon.

Nu ik niet meer in Nederland woon moet ik de massa hysterie (waar ik stiekem zo van hou) missen die hoort bij een memorabel moment als kroningsdag. Gelukkig is via het digitale kanaal nog wel het een en ander te volgen. En BY FAR het beste wat ik ben tegen komen is toch wel de ontwerpen van Studio Sjoesjoe. Hoe fris, vrolijk en van nu zijn haar leuke ontwerpen voor bordjes wel niet (die zou ik allemaal wel in de kast willen hebben) en de free downloads van de hoedjes en limonade labels met vaantjes. Ik zou zeggen snel nog even naar haar blog en aan het downloaden slaan.

Now that I'm not in Holland I must miss all the fun around the day the Queens hands over her throne to our new King. Thankfully I can still follow some of it via internet. By far the best I've seen are these designs by Studio Sjoesjoe. I love the cute plate designs (if produced I would want them ALL) and the free downloads of the hats and lemonade labels. Garden furniture search in Singapore

We zijn in Singapore op zoek naar leuke tuinmeubelen voor op onze patio. Geen 13 in dozijn bij voorkeur maar net even iets anders. Niet makkelijk om te vinden want veel is toch wel van dat plastic wicker. Prima maar vaak best duur en dan heb ik liever iets waar mijn hart ook echt sneller van gaat kloppen. Was dan ook blij dat mijn lief Galanga Living had gevonden. Hun motto is 'Scandinavian design with Asian flavour'. Klinkt goed! Komend weekend gaan we naar de showroom om te kijken. Fingers crossed.
We've come a long way with our new home in Singapore but we still really need to work on the patio. Plants and furniture are high on our shortlist. And we don't really want the ordinary stuff, we like something a bit different and unexpected. So happy that my Mr Lover found Galanga Living. Their slogan is 'Scandinavian design with Asian flavour'. I like the sound of that! We will go there this weekend to look at the collection in their showroom. Fingers crossed.
